Great company!

Pros

PEMCO likes to think of itself as a 'relationship company' and it's clear that it walks the walk. From the level of respect it has for its insured to the way it treats its employees (many of whom have worked here for 20, even 30 years!) this is a caring place and a first-class company. The 401k plan is incredible, too.

Cons

A bit behind on technology; with longevity, some employees can become a little complacent or set in their ways.

Pros

PEMCO is more supportive and caring then other Insurance Companies I have worked for. Great benefits.

Cons

Typical of the industry, the job does not pay enough for the amount of abuse we incur from the customers. The yearly increases are also a slap in the face, no where near covering inflation. We are expected to perform at a high level of customer service while handling sometimes very complex claims, while staying within The State regulations. Unfortunately the pay does not appropriately reflect what is expected of us.

Pros

Pay was good, small company so you feel like your voice can be heard, good benefits.

Cons

Felt like working for your friends parents, meetings meetings meeting. PEMCO LOVES meetings. In fact, they'll schedule a meeting to talk about the meeting they just had and then schedule a follow up meeting to talk about the follow up. there is definitely a good ol boy mentality. They are struggling to grow as a company. they are growing unprofitably in Oregon so they raise rates in WA. They're losing household in WA like crazy and have downsized many departments. Not quite sue what the company strategy is but if it's winning, they hide it very well.
