Pros

• Fun work environment and great coworkers. Competitive and business minded atmosphere. • Justin Feroce, St. Louis branch manager, is an extremely ambitious and supportive leader. • My mentor, Jake Sims, was extremely knowledgeable with an unquestionable drive and work ethic. Jake never hesitates to assist any of his trainees, even after moving out on their own. He’s “the man”! • Training is very comprehensive. • Decent starting salary for college graduates. • The most successful people in the St. Louis branch made up to $100,000-$150,000/ year.

Cons

• High turn-over rate. • Required to be chained to a company email that requires you to be on call 24/7 in order to resolve and dissolve issues. • Many of the most successful people were handed their biggest clients before PLS’ ongoing addition of stricter regulations/ many of the same individual’s clientele can no longer be signed up because they have been stereo pegged as companies that “over all” struggle to pay bills. (Example: recycling and food companies) • PLS does not hesitate to turn down “MASSIVE” opportunities if the company would be required to take on too much personal liability. For instance, when working for PLS I was in direct communications with some of the largest cheese and meat manufactures in the United States but was prevented to service because PLS chose to avoid accountability. • PLS makes it clear that the “ideal” employee needs to be willing start at 7am and work until 5pm. All in addition to late nights and rotating Saturday shifts. All in all PLS would like all employees to have a MINIMUM 50 hour work week, and any kind of failure to comply results in a browbeating scolding about how your individual commitment is not up to par. • While I have nothing but praise for the direct leadership, I cannot but question the ethics and personal morality of the higher ups and their overall decision making. For instance, after meeting 2 bench marks ahead of schedule I was on track begin growing a book of business, that is until a huge road block was thrown my way to what felt like a reactionary whim by all the PLS decision makers. One of my fastest growing customers was involved in shipping meat and poultry products. After, a contracted PLS driver who was running a meat shipment for entirely different customer stole $50,000 worth of product PLS’ decision makers decided to punish all meat customers by preventing all employees from moving any customer’s comparable products. The choice was obviously a knee jerk reaction that involved no retention plan and only resulted in sabotaging numerous employ-customer working relationships. PLS is a company that starts out their employees with a small starter salary until the employee can sustain themselves to work only off of commission. Luckily, I was able to recognize these signs when I was still on salary because if I would’ve made a career out of PLS after rolling over to commission my family’s entire livelihood could have gone up in spokes. As a husband and father, I cannot fundamentally support a company that indulges in these type of operations.

We are sorry to hear about the negative individual experience you had with us at PLS. We are very upfront with our employees from the start about the hours required for this position and it does require one monthly Saturday shift a month due to shipments going out on the weekend. The account executive position can be stressful and is very competitive. Our managers do their best to support their employees and help them be successful in their roles. We are continuing to work to create a positive, fun work environment here at PLS. Pros

- It is fair pay - gain experience in sales and logistics - free drinks almost every Friday

Cons

- A bunch of recent college graduates talking to truck drivers that are usually not good people. "Some" of them are alcoholics and have been to prison multiple times, and you have to give them all the control in moving freight. - Co-workers will help you only if they like you, and even so you have a 90% failure rate at this company because they already have all the big players they need. They just need new graduates to move more freight for the big players in the office for a few months then get new graduates a few months later. They will toss you out like trash - One manager there only talked to me 6 times in the 7 months I was there. I counted. Didn't try to help me grow as a person only yelled if things went wrong. The other manager helped teach and was much better, but he still had to focus on his book of business mostly. - Just an overall trap for young college graduates, yeah you will get paid, but if you start working their you will be a pawn for the bigger players until you leave in usually 7 months time because you have to hit sales numbers which are extremely hard to hit when you have to create your own book of business. Only the big players survive. - If you start here you should have contacts already working here that are in high places, if you don't have that then you will have a very hard couple months ahead of you.

It’s disappointing to hear about your negative experience from the time you spent with us at PLS. We are constantly working to improve our comprehensive training program to make sure that our AET’s are prepared whenever starting the position. The account executive position is a great entry level position for individuals to grow into a sales position and gain experience in the sales & transportation industries. We strive to make a positive atmosphere here at PLS throughout all of our office locations. If you have any further suggestions, please contact us at publicrelations@plslogistics.com.
