Pros

Forced to learn sales due to high volume of calls STL office had amazing managers and people, they were the reason i stayed as long as I did. Very luck based, you are to the mercy of the leads they give you 9 times out of 10 if you come in and interview they will give you a job. If you are serious about this job, get off the cringe Jordan Belford script immediately. Listen to the higher level AE's and listen to how they talk to prospects.

Cons

-You will do nothing but put on a headset, sit at a computer and make 200 cold calls a day -ONE YEAR LONG NON COMPETE. They will sue you if you try to work at another logistics company, I have heard upper management joke about it. -The leads are god awful. You will call hair salons, banks etc. and asking if they have freight. The leads who have freight have been called by 13 other PLS employees already and are begging to be taken off the call list. Out of your 400 leads in your salesforce maybe 50 have actual freight. If you try to bring up the fact the leads are awful they will talk about how one time a person signed up a dentist office because they needed chairs once. -Long work hours, especially if you have a commute. 7:15am-4:30pm with one late day a week to 5pm. Also one Saturday shift a month from 7:15-12 where no one does anything. -Not able to prospect during work hours. If you want to have any chances of getting customers your looking at spending hours of your own time to find them. -Insane turnover. They try to bring in as much people as they can and work them to death and whatever business they acquire they hand off to higher level salesmen -Practically no commission at 2 percent, and that's even if our customers pay us. -I have witnessed people get up in the middle of the day and walk out because of how awful it is. This job is so stressful that everyone vapes at their desks - managers, seniors, coordinators. I was so close to starting again because the stress level was so high. -Even the high level AE's who are close to senior level hate their job, I even heard the managers talking about forcing one into a coordinator role because they cant hit their unrealistic expectations. -The successful senior account execs have been here for years before call stats were a thing and before the market has become as over saturated as it is. -If you still take this job like I did because the job market sucks, a couple months in they will offer you a deal that you can quit and they'll give you your next paycheck. Take it

Pros

Easy interview and decent pay before commission for a sales job. It is pretty easy to hit their 200 call quota too. Interview was pretty unprofessional and mostly is looking for just out of college male business majors with a pretty big bias to people who played/talked about sports.

Cons

The management was weird in the Philly office and did not have a lot of support for new employees. It was easy enough to get help from other employees but after the first few zoom training sessions the in office, management will let you go. When I was there, they were really bad at facilitating leads. I'm sure they're not the only company that has this problem but there were a few times where they would give me 50+ new leads and maybe 8 were actually still in business or was in a serviceable field for us.

Pros

Company culture was alright I guess

Cons

Ask yourself why a company that has 400 employees has hiring classes of 70 that take place multiple times a year…it’s not a pyramid scheme but your chances of making through a year are about the same as winning the hunger games. The mentality here is basically world war 2 Russian military tactics. Just throw people at the objective and although most of them will fail a select few MIGHT survive.
