Pros

Its different than any other place I have ever worked. Work culture actually is king. Most of us have very positive professional relationships within our teams, across departments, and up/down the chain of command as well. It's unique to sit in a meeting with C level mangers, veteran employees, new hires, and interns and have everyone's voices be heard and valued. Work life balance is also exceptional. I've never had an issue working from home with a sick kid (even before covid) or taking time off to address family/personal health concerns. Our teams also have little "traditions" that build moral. Things like getting breakfast on a given morning or having a quarterly team outing are part of the norm here.

Cons

Compensation is not the best in the area by a long shot. While bonuses and other incentives make up for this they are losing ground to other employer in the area.

Pros

Company has lots of money, so the company gatherings and pay are typically substantial.

Cons

Company cheerleads that family and God are #1 - this is a bold face lie. No trust, no communication. Must have clout/last name to be able to succeed - it is absolutely all about WHO you know, not WHAT you know. Also - no loyalty whatsoever - large firings with no warnings, no matter what your seniority is. I was actually asked for recommendations on who could step in & do my job - get this - before they let me go.

Pros

Profit sharing is nice, occasionally it is quite large.

Cons

Too much religion, too many entrenched managers, too much non-value-added activity. Its a technical type business run by accountants.

POET Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. POET is a private company with strong beliefs in holistic wellness which does include spiritual and emotional health. Team members are invited, but never required, to participate in any of the voluntary religious/spiritual programs offered. As POET continues to grow, we strive to stay focused on innovative and value-added activities that contribute to the ongoing success of our mission. As you mentioned, that does translate to quarterly profit-sharing which is a benefit we consistently receive good feedback about! We also encourage team members to have open lines of communication with their leader, or alternatively their People & Culture Partner (HR) to discuss any concerns they are experiencing.
