Pros

POWER Engineers is a better than average consulting company to work for based on its size. Overall: They treat their employees fair, the company culture is a positive, and the knowledge base in the company is well balanced across disciplines.

Cons

Starting salary is low, but total pay can be made up with OT. Schedules and project budgets are based on how much time an experienced engineer would take to complete the task. As an entry level engineer, you are expected to know everything as it relates to your job from the start.

Pros

casual dress code. ( shorts and t shirts)

Cons

1) very bad place to work : Upper management is really bad at the houston office. Power tripping, name calling is very common. 2) Micro managed: Management goes looking in people's cube to see if they are working or not. Trust issues. 3) very low pay ( less than national/houston) average, long working hours. 4) Upper management is filled with people with no formal education in business or experience in business. ( you can be a great engineer, but that does not make you a great manager) 5) No long term vision for company to grow; they higher new engineers every year and pay them less. These new hires work their for 3 years get experience and leave. the cycle then continues... this results in no strong work base. 6) work culture is really bad, you are expected to know everything about everything...if not, you will be called into conference room ( just wasting your and the office's time)

Pros

If you do good work you are recognized and are appropriately rewarded. Size of the company keeps the bureaucracy to a minimum. Great people to work with. You are given the freedom to find and do the kind of work that interests you and build up your personal reputation while building up the company as well. As an employee owned company decisions are made based on what makes sense for the long term not to maximize the shareholders next quarter profits.

Cons

It is sometimes difficult working across office locations. This can cause challenges in getting work done efficiently and getting to know people involved in your projects.
