Pros

Salary was decent, hours were great. It was fun getting to know the customers and products. It was very satisfying to recommend the right product for the job.

Cons

Training was almost non-existent. The company couldn't afford to send someone else to my store to cover me so I could attend the official company training offered from a training store, so they put someone else through it, then replaced me with them instead. They complain that stores spend too much money, but chew you out when you find ways to cut costs at your location. For example, I had an older printer model that used some funky ink cartridges. Where they wanted me to get them from didn't always have them in stock, and when they did, they cost an arm and a leg. A local office supply store could get them to me in less than twenty-four hours at half the cost, but I was chewed out if I went that route.

Pros

Flexibility. Great leadership. 3 weeks time off the 1st year. A brand you can stand behind.

Cons

Pay was a bit on the low side. Base pay was okay but the bonus structure needs work.

Pros

The pros at PPG are that you build a close bond and relationship with the guys you work with. I’ve met some of my best friends there. You also start to build a great bond with the customers/contractors there too.

Cons

Now....this is not a bash but the honest truth. Management inside the store sucks...it really sucks. There are some good ones out there, but there are more bad ones that lie and will throw their employees under the bus just to cover themselves and that’s not right at all. I was a former employee and my manager refuse to train me so that I could get to the next level. He pretty much held me back from moving up so I had to learn a lot on my own. PPG is a company that doesn’t take care of there hard working employees and I mean hard working. They give you a lot of empty promises and will promote someone who just came in the business instead of someone who has been with the company for years. That’s really messed up. Management will say you up next and then “boom”...you were lied to. The pay wasn’t good at all. I believe that hard work is appreciated and to my honest opinion....they don’t. You had people receiving 10 cent raises. People that have worked their butts off and got 10 cent raises . That’s a tough pill to swallow know you get that kinda raise and you put so much sweat and hard work into your job. Most of the good people that worked there left and that’s the reason why...they were not appreciated at all.
