Pros

Pay and benefits were good. Hours were as expected for the position. Was initially proud & excited to be working for a “major” player.

Cons

Serious lack of integrity from direct manager. Employees expected to support and protect PPG at all costs with major OEM (directed to alter test results and verbally misrepresent performance, quality and color results... or go along w/same). Equipment and tools provided for position were subpar. Team was exposed to multiple serious safety dangers. The result was being extremely uncomfortable in this work situation even though I enjoyed the work.

Pros

Comprehensive benefits for salaried employees including 401k match. Good opportunities for vertical and lateral movement

Cons

Like a typical large company, employees are all replaceable. Communication across departments and levels of management is poor, and recent changes have left a lot of uncertainty for employees at multiple levels.

Pros

* PPG Tend's to promote from within * Flex time and Work From Home Options

Cons

The cons have gotten larger since the executive team changeover. Prior to the executive changeover it was a very good place to work with high morale. Since the executive changeover the morale has dipped significantly. While the pay isn't great, it isn't bad. Middle of the road. It has become though much more about do more with less. Perks are continually taken away. Health insurance budgets continually slashed causing health plan costs to more than double over the past year and a half. The drive has turned to attracting younger cheaper talent and pushing out more experienced expensive talent. The culture has turned into a very bottom line culture of what can be cut to save money, which is an ironic standpoint coming from the CEO that is compensated highest in Pittsburgh for public companies. With little perks continually taken away, while in the grand scheme of things aren't that big of a deal, when you add them all together with the large perks that are cut it kills company morale on a large scale.
