Pros

Large well known company with strong resources. Very strong at product marketing, Company prefers to hire people right out of college so can be a good option for a first job.

Cons

If you are working in a division that is doing well PPG can be a good company to work for. But if your division is not doing well your life will miserable. Most managers are long term employee's and they do everything the PPG way even when there were better options. I saw many employee's dedicated to doing whatever they felt necessary to keep their jobs and not what was best for the business. In the group I was in being over 50 greatly increased your chances of being forced out. Some companies value highly experienced employees. But in the division I was at over 50 meant you were making a higher salary and that was not good.

Pros

Great coworkers and stable company.

Cons

Lack of communication. Poor decision-making skills during acquisitions. Upper management would make careless decisions that the customer-facing employee would have to "deal with".

Pros

Large company, some good products in coatings, namely True Finish, PMC. Pricing could be competitive if needed. Ok company if starting out in sales.

Cons

PPG pay structure for coatings business unit was terrible. Said they had base salary/commission, capped bonus. Work to play terrible. PPG cares nothing about off time. Time off seems like does not exist, employees are the slaves of company. Management above the rep/store level blow smoke all day. PIP program is a joke. Reps is charged fee monthly for company car, payment takes care of insurance. PPG only concerned about profits, not employees.
