It's like working under a microscope

Pros

Well-educated colleagues, exposure to multiple industries, solid skills training

Cons

The term 'micromanagement' can be overused, often trite. PRADCO is truly micromanagement to the extreme. For starters, everyone's calendars are public. It's not unheard of to have a colleague ask you about an appointment that was on your calendar even if it was personal. Gaps in your calendar are often questioned as there is a lack of trust in you managing your time if they can't see it. Emails are tracked and reviewed. Your language, format and punctuation will be critiqued quite often with feedback often transcending into the subjective versus grammatically correct. PRADCO says they have a "feedback culture" and they do. Expect feedback/criticism nearly every day, often from multiple people. It certainly affected my morale and had me questioning my own abilities as positive feedback exists, but is much harder to come by. The time you walk in the door, the time you leave, and time spent at lunch are all noticed by leadership even if you are a salaried exempt employee. Turnover at PRADCO is very high. There is a culture of distrust. You have to prove you can be trusted not the other way around. The 'having to prove yourself' in order to get basic autonomy is a tough pill to swallow for many seasoned and accomplished professionals.

Pros

Opportunity to gain a lot of experience quickly. Smart and dedicated coworkers. Work itself is interesting. Good for people early in their careers that want exposure to consulting and can withstand the culture of the company.

Cons

Lack of autonomy. Expectation of perfection leads to crushing burnout. Highly demanding and stressful environment due to inconsistent messaging and passive aggressive behavior from ownership.
