Pros

They pay a very fair wage and have a very decent benefit and bonus package. There are some good people.

Cons

The leadership is pretty weak. They don't have the expertise or skills to be able to lead. They manage up. If you work in a group like corporate real estate, then you should be someone that enjoys the pouring rain and sand in your oatmeal. You should like creating processes that make the job take 10 times as long as it should and cost 10 times as much. Then monitor and track it, make goals around it. Tell everyone how much you have fixed things. Doesn't matter how much you actually understand and do your job, because they don't. What matters is perception.

Just putting in their time

Pros

Work life balance. Low stress. Located in beautiful Newark, NJ where the murder rate has been decreasing over time.

Cons

Too many long-term employees just putting in time until they get their pension. Bar isn't set very high. Innovation dies on the table because nobody wants to take a chance and get blamed for any failure. Bunch of finger pointers; especially at the higher levels.

Very upsetting and hostile place to work

Pros

Free coffee, decent toilet paper in the bathrooms, nightly cleaning crew

Cons

PSEG is not a nice place to work. Their number one priority is to PREACH about their values (they do not follow them or represent them, just preach them) For example, they will go on and on about how safety is #1, yet demand office people drive in during a horrible snow storm or else use their vacation. How is this caring about the safety of your employees? And forget about work/life balance, they don't care. Some people are given summer hours, while others are not. Some are given ability to work from home, others are not. Most of the jobs are given to incompetent people because they are friends with directors. Most decent established employees do not stay there and find better places to work where they will actually be appreciated.
