Pros

8 out of 12 people in the group were great to work with however, the other 4 made me leave the job.

Cons

1. Dishonest people are rewarded at this company. Technical knowledge or experience didn't play a role in promotion. 2. Training for young engineers is non-existent. 3. Promotions are unfairly given. As a result of not having enough senior staff (retirements) company promotes people who have have 5-6 years experience to engineer manager level positions. They have no idea how to manage or/and have limit technical knowledge for someone in the position. 4. Work becomes mundane and tedious after about a year. 5. Engineering judgement is overridden by bottom line.

White people company and short staffed on engineering

Pros

Decent compensation (salary, bonus, vacation) Convenient location for commute (mass transit options available)

Cons

- All their engineering managers are white only (departments: relay, transformer, substation equipment, maintenance, underground, pretty much all the engineering departments). They will not let any other people from other background to get to management level position. If you are not white, then most they will let you become is Principal Engineer and then your career ends there. You can not become an engineering manager if you are not white, PERIOD. Take this seriously. - Their diversity & inclusion is for namesake only; it matters only for the lower level positions. - Worst of all organization is their AM&CS department. Some Directors and Managers are nothing but bullies. Just because they have been with the company for long time, they think they own the company and apparently senior management does nothing to prevent this. They turn a blind eye to this. It is eye shocking that these kind of bully behaviors still persist among managers. Toxic work environment within engineering departments. - Their top engineers and managers are not even professionally qualified, no degree, no PE license either. - Nepotism and favoritism is at best. Even before the interview, it is selected who would get the job and who would not. - No checkback from HR on how and if the mid level managers are doing their work or not. - Nothing happens to field people despite them making several mistakes, but if an engineer makes a genuine mistake, he/she will be crucified. - Some engineers are loaded with 3 times more than normal work, and some have no work and just collect their paycheck by doing nothing.

Pros

Stepping stone to continue my HR experience. Nice colleagues.

Cons

As a contractor you have no so say of improvement in the department and lots of office politics. Unfortunately, my direct Supervisor was a yes, yes person to Sr. Leadership teams and lacked maturity and experience to manage a successful department in talent & acquisitions. As a result my position became a revolving door of contractors coming and going and is continuing. For this to be a established utility company it runs worst than a start up in talent & acquisitions department. Daily Parking fees very expensive.
