      OK job for a high school or college student to earn some extra money

      Pros

      For someone who is a high school or college student, the pay is decent for the amount of work required.

      Cons

      The amount of money that you make at this job is very dependent on a number of factors. The state of the economy generally dictates how much business you will get as a driver, and you will generally be dealing with customers who range from unfriendly to decent. The hours at papa john's can be a bit long from time to time. In addition to this, the wear that you will put on your car can tend to be more of a problem than the job is worth.

      Pros

      As a driver for Papa John's you basically control your income, if you are quick and know your way around your location then you can make a decent income with tips. Also hours are rather flexible, for those who have a main job that they need to base their hours around.

      Cons

      Although Papa John's is a good started place for a young employee, I would not recommend working any other position than a driver or manager if possible. This is because of the minimum wage salary for insiders. Also though as a driver you are subject to high gas prices since you only get a dollar per delivery, which doesn't really cover gas expenses.

      Pros

      Delivery driving is good work with decent tips. I spent my days listening to music while driving around the city and made an average of $15 an hour. This job is good if you don't need a serious job, since it has inconsistant earnings and a typical shift was only about five hours. There isn't much to say about the job, it's a pretty simple thing. We did sidework while we waited to be dispatched, such as restocking, folding boxes, taking the pizzas out of the oven, answering calls, and inputing orders. I only quit since I didn't want to pay for commercial car insurance.

      Cons

      We only made five dollars an hour, with 5% comission. The biggest problem came from being overstaffed. If you're only taking out one pizza an hour you're barely making minimum wage, since it's $5 an hour, plus $1 commission on a $20 order, plus about $3 tip. Keep in mind you're also paying for gas, as well as depriciation on your vehicle. If you get stiffed you actually paid your money to give them a pizza. If you can make enough orders it isn't an issue, and it really is a fun job. Unfortunately if you get in an accident while on the job and your insurance company finds out then they will most likely drop you and refuse to pay for any repairs since it's a commercial job, so you're SOL.
