Pros

MTV Networks has a very fun atmosphere. The people are all nice and generally very young. They are all very supportive and look out for one another when it comes to finding other jobs and helping one another out. The Lodge in 1515 Broadway has great food for cheap prices. Its convenient working in times square since it is only a 10 minute walk from Penn Station for commuters and right by a whole bunch of subways for NY residents. The views from the windows are great. You get an hour off for lunch every day. I recommend it a lot.

Cons

Sometimes they have too little for everyone to do and there is a lot of downtime. It would be good if they helped out entry level workers a bit more.

Pros

You can wear jeans to work (which may be great in your 20s, but less so in your 30s and 40s), The creative vibe is contagious, and the company is constantly changing. Senior management encourages creativity which is always nice.

Cons

Senior management are mostly children - not in age, but in attitudes and professionalism. EVPs and SVPs still dress like they're 18 and treat employees as if they're 15. Promotions from within are frequently overlooked in favor of hiring from the outside, creating a culture of disgruntled long timers. Judy McGrath hasn't addressed the staff personally in close to two years. Senior management at each of the networks and network groups only address their staffs marginally more often. Layoffs are imminent and some senior staff is non-existent around the office. Occasionally, diversity is valued more than talent, leaving those who don't fit a profile left in the dust. There's an undeserved sense that because it's such a creative environment that smart business tactics aren't required.

Pros

The name of the brand, MTV is pretty much why you are working there. It's a flexible and fun company.

Cons

They take advantage of their name and use it to maintain low salaries.
