Pros

Some cool people, lots of promises that never happen.

Cons

They pay their cooks for their new rooftop restaurant, as little as possible. Experienced cooks are getting paid $18-$22 which is less than living wage in Asheville. Every single person has asked for and fought for a raise, just to be told no every time. The kitchen is severely understaffed, and they not only ignore that fact when considering paying cooks more, they keep adding more tables to the restaurant and adding more lunch shifts, to stretch us even more thin. To work at a new restaurant that is making $8,000-$10,000 every single day, and has made over $400,000 in three months, and to be told it’s “not in the budget” to give the handful of people we have a raise, is extremely disheartening. It’s at a point where almost everyone is about to quit because the stress-money ratio just isn’t worth it. They have “employee appreciation events,” and not once has the rooftop employees been apart of it. We were actually told to prep for and work an employee appreciation event for everyone else. It seems as though no matter how much we beg for even a one dollar raise, it falls on deaf ears. All these people want is to be paid a living wage. All they want is to feel respected. I have heard that working for this company isn’t all bad, maybe they don’t know how to handle a successful restaurant, as most of theirs are pre-fab Hilton hotel menus, but either way. Proceed with caution if you’re a cook or chef thinking about working for this company.
