      Pearson continues to be a sinking ship.

      Pros

      I work in IT and I honestly have none. Even the benefits are only average. Last year many did not even get a cost of living raise but w have been told we may get a raise in 2017 so that's a positive!

      Cons

      Layoffs continue. Outsourcing continues. Any IT employee not in management is being replaced. Projects are months being schedule. I have been with Pearson 15 years and this is the worst it's ever been. The UK where this company is run from has no clue.

      Great people. Tremendous amount of quality content. Fun office location and facilities.

      Unclear product vision. Inability to execute on technical vision due to in-fighting.

      Outsourced to Death

      Pros

      Ability to work from home. Casual atmosphere. Benefits are good. Overall nice co-workers who try to do a good job despite challenges.

      Cons

      Pay has been stagnant for years. No bonuses for non-sales staff. The enabling functions have been outsourced, long-term staff have been let go and there are now huge gaps in knowledge and competence in critical areas. It can be nearly impossible to perform basic business functions because no one has the knowledge or experience--or perhaps desire--to lead. The remaining staff are expected to do their own jobs as well as rectify the damage that the outsourced partners are inflicting on the company.
