Pros

I can only mention the past. When I worked at Prentice-Hall, life was great. I managed many authors and textbook series. Then things went south in 2006 when Pearson's corporate greed took over.

Cons

Too many to list but I mourn for our country's future when incompetent managers run this corporation into the ground. Pearson management and all corporation management should be sent to the moon! You have no shame. When the average upper manager makes 246 times what the real worker of the company makes, then we are all doomed.

Constantly changing- and never improving

Pros

I wish I could manage something that was a positive; but I simply cannot muster a good thing to say about this company any longer.

Cons

5 years ago this company was a much different place and while it had it's shortcomings, you felt like you mattered and that you were participating in something special. The current company values do not mesh with many of the very talented people here which is why so many of them are being shown the door. Morale is horrible and any information given from above in regards to what is happening is always a PR spin that is quite different from the reality.

Good start, lousy ending

Pros

Salary and benefits were above average.

Cons

Laid off along with a bunch of others (from Austin office) without a word of notice that it might be coming. Unfriendly coworkers and at least one unbelievably non-congenial department head (of arguably the most visible department in the office).
