Pros

I worked at Penn State as a graduate student researcher and the resources are the best part of Penn State. You have access to tons of facilities as well as career consulting services.

Cons

Among all other grad schools, Penn State grad student has higher load of teaching responsibility and lower salary.

Pros

The pay at PSU is enough to save a little money and get you by without much worry or struggling. Plus, they make sure your education comes before your job. If a professor assigns you too much work, you will usually be able to reduce your work load as a TA without having to get higher ups involved. They want you to do well.

Cons

You typically find out which class you are helping to teach about a week before the semester starts. It would be nice to know further ahead of time.
