Bad management causing company to fail

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Good people on the floor

Cons

Erratic management style. Plant manager totally clueless on how to run the plant. Different set of rules for management and hourly. Favoritism and nepotism big time. Folks afraid to speak up. They hire on promises that are never upheld. Toxic work place. Folks are jumping ship. Good example of how to make a good company and brand fall apart one location at a time.

Pros

Good place to learn ammonia refrigeration, centrifugal compressors, multi stage system, stem boilers, large pneumatic systems, thermal fluid boilers, industrial manufacturing, etc. Benefits are just ok. Working hours are long but you get 3 days off. Overtime is usually welcome. Most coworkers are friendly.

Cons

Management is distant, unwilling to spend me on basic parts and repairs let alone big ticket items (unless a critical breakdown inhibits production from running), very quick to blame low level employees, several people fired for mistakes made due to lack of training. High turnover rate across most departments especially maintenance supervisors and managers. Constant breakdowns due to misuse of production equipment but production leaders refuse to correct issues/slow down/allow downtime for proper maintenance. Very old school management and leadership structure. Difficulty getting raises for eduction/certifications and usually no backpay if/when raise is finally approved. Also everything is done on paper - from benefits enrollment to time off requests.
