Pros

Some smart folks. A few good customers. Great place for engineers 50+ who are on their last rodeo and have no desire to learn new relevant skills.

Cons

As stated in the title Puppet is ancient and completely irrelevant in today's technology world. The only reason they even exist today in any form is a few very large customers haven't had a chance to migrate to better modern platforms. No SaaS... really licensing model is 15 years behind. Can't work with containers. Doesn't play well in the public cloud. No money, no marketing, 0 leads. Poor attitude toward fresh ideas. Most of the management that stayed after the acquisition believes there is no need for change they seem to think everybody should want to live in the past. They can't seem to realize the company was acquired by some no name private equity company for dirt cheap and there was a reason for that acquisition. If you aren't a 50+ year old engineer I would steer clear. For sales, no matter your age, run and run fast.

Pros

Unlimited PTO (although they expect you to "make it up" if you're out) Some remote work (during pandemic, but now they have to justify the real estate, so most had to come back) Overall employee treatment is pretty good; some cool perks along the way

Cons

Work projections did not match reality (mostly spam) No meaningful adjustments to address that reality Lauded employees who worked while having COVID; questioned some who didn't. Unreasonable quotas, especially during internally busy months (bootcamps, seminars, holidays) Lengthy probationary periods before promoting very few company darlings

Pros

Very smart people, culture accepting of at least some diversity (i.e.more than average number of women in tech positions), lovely facilities.

Cons

It's a privately-held company, run by one guy. He's a pretty nice guy, but he wants things his way. If you're in an execution-type role, that's probably just fine, and you'll like your job. If you're wanting to contribute strategically, you're likely to be frustrated.
