Pros

- The ideas of individual contributors are listened to (though, like most companies, this varies by department) - Huge opportunity to create change, but without the instability of a startup - People are generally kind to each other; HR is trying to develop a "culture of feedback" which a lot of folks take very seriously. - Beautiful office that the facilities team really takes pride in; convenient East Bay location with free parking - Great work/life balance, which is stressed from day one. - Fun parties, but no pressure to attend ("fun is always an option, it is never mandatory").

Cons

Perforce is a 19+ year old software company with significant market challenges. It has to adapt to meet those challenges, and is having difficulty adapting because of former wild success. "That's the way we've always done it" is a phrase heard pretty frequently here, and I sense a deep divide between people who've been around a long time and the newcomers. But in order for the company to adapt and survive, the old-timers need to trust that the newcomers have good ideas too -- and they are often deeply skeptical of change.

Pros

Easy work if assigned to a good brand

Cons

Used to be fun, management and leadership changed and everyone lost the ability to want to work. The SDR department had to come in more days than other departments. Promise promotions and never stick with it.

Perforce Software Response

I appreciate you leaving a post and the time you spent with us at Perforce. One area we consistently receive positive comments on is our work-life balance, culture and the fun vibe at our office. We try hard to make sure to include "fun" in what we do and have a dedicated Fun Committee, Happy Hours, events like our annual Twins game outing. We continue to tweak our SDR program to set up these individuals for career progress. We created the XDR Elevate program to provide XDRs with the skills needed to be successful at the next level. We held a number of session like Objection Handling to bolster skills and prepare XDR's for the next step. We promoted over 190 people in 2025. I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to progress here at Perforce. This year, we are bringing in new automation software that will make life easier for all of our sales professionals. ~Jim Cassens, CEO

Pros

Great people culture, some fun job perks

Cons

Certain leaders need to retire or be asked to leave. Constant pivots don't allow good work to succeed or see the light of day. Excessive micromanagement constantly a problem
