Great Small Company Atmosphere

Pros

- Management is always very active in gathering the voice of the people in order to set policies and precedents that make the lives of the engineers easier - The people here are fantastic, a lot of very bright and fun people to work with - Fun company events and company holiday to hang out with your coworkers - Fully stocked break room, never go hungry or without coffee - Room for advancement - Room to be innovative, and also to flourish as a leader from day 1

Cons

- Pay is not up to par (for the industy) - The work can sometimes be monotonous due to the company being a contract company. You will occasionally be stuck doing something you might not desire too strongly to do, but there is usually an ebb and flow of cool work that you can get your hands on eventually.

Pros

Lots of company-sponsored events, free snacks and beverages

Cons

Poor communication regarding performance and expectations, quick to let potentially valuable employees go. Lots of cliques and if you don't fit into one you are outcast. Certain managers completely lack professionalism and will speak negatively of employees within earshot of other employees. Poor training, poor responses to questions. Company fails to listen to input from employees and would rather just let them go. This company received the Best Places to Work award for several years running but is definitely NOT a best place to work now. Parties and free snacks don't make up for proper training and empowering employees to do their best.

Pros

The people who worked there were always the best part of the job. Hard workers who believed everyone should carry their fair share if the workload.

Cons

The owner. He plays members of his leadership team against each other. I watched as he came swooping back into the business after a few fantastic years of growth and systematically dismantled the morale and customer relationships. His final position with his senior leadership team when they objected to changes was "I don't want to hear it. Go work somewhere else". Easy choice.
