Pros

I've been at PSW for about 15 years or so, which is a long time to stay at one company in the tech industry. But I've stayed primarily because I like the people at the company. In particular the Executive Team composed of the CEO, COO, and Business Leaders are a group of 'high-integrity' individuals. During my time with PSW, there were several occasions in which I disagreed with their decisions, but I always respected the decision because they took the time to explain their thought process and justification. Also, the ER (Employee Relations) team also does a great job in communicating to the troops and handling issues. Basically Performance Software recognizes that their most important asset is their staff. And that's a big difference from other organizations in which I've worked.

Cons

Sometimes projects aren't the most exciting and it's tough to self-motivate. The silver lining to a bad project is that the company recognizes when we get those "lemons" and tries to help.

Powerful cliques and their negative aspects

Pros

Lol, it's funny that most of these reviews mention free snacks. Ask yourself honestly if a free snack a day would keep you at a company and if that is true, then where are your expectations! The schedule is flexible, that is the greatest benefit.

Cons

Most of the 'negative' reviews talk about the 'cliques' in Phoenix. The 'old timers' are powerful and untouchable. Even the 'positive' reviews show how forceful and in power they are by asking the CEO to stand aside and basically let them take control of the company. That would be a big mistake. At some point in time those same 'cliques' stand in the way of any new blood or ideas coming into the company. But at this time you must report and be held accountable to those 'cliques' because there is no independent HR dept reporting to the CEO.

Pros

Performance Software has the mantra that people are first, then the work, then revenue will follow. They surprise me with how diligent they are at holding to that philosophy. Each employee is assigned a team manager who is independent of the project they are working on. This TM has the job of helping the employee with their career. They provide the ability to push back on project management if it becomes needed. They actively seek to hear the opinions of the employees and acknowledge their faults and seek to correct them. All companies have their problems but this one is open to them and seeks to correct them. The retirement benefits are the stuff out of stories. I consider it a huge benefit.

Cons

The nature of our business does not allow for top salaries in the industry. They recently acknowledged that their salaries were too low and took steps to change the course of the ships.
