Pros

Benefits are okay - basic health, vision, dental, PTO Depending on your manager you have flexibility

Cons

I ended up at PKI because they bought the company I worked for a couple of years ago and since integrating the team I was on was dissolved and we were put in positions that are somehow both the same and vastly different. We weren't given any choice or say in the change of positions. We changed systems before the team dissolved and my previous manager had to hunt down people to train us on the systems - no one thought to plan training in advance The biggest difference between my old position to this one is that I'm scheduled on the phones 5 out of 8 hours a day and they do not stop ringing from the time you sign on until you sign off. You're expected to use the remaining 3 hours to do 8 hours' worth of work. The pay is low and the benefits are a bare minimum

Pros

- plenty of opportunity as the people who worked to establish a foundation and built PE with BST, giving the prime of their lives to securing the wellness of “ the company” while sacrificing themselves, literally up to the time of their death (as one long time employee , based in Atlanta, past away while on a business assignment and died on that trip where it is fact that his body wasn’t discovered in his company paid for hotel room for five days after he passed away. Collection was initiated by friends of Gene’s family and widow to help make sure that they didn’t go without the basic needs as lawyers fought against providing any financial support or benefits to said family. Oh the Pros? Lots of new openings to expand on work done by the likes of Michael Duffy (never credited for his software development for the various instruments that put PE on the world stage .

Cons

Lack of compassion for people who need time off for seeing to personal care. No work-life balance or concern for the longevity of ones career. The “wine and dine” culture of corporate life in the 80’s and 90’s . This use of alcohol left many PE employees who were on the road more than at home with loneliness and plenty of encouragement to drink with clients into late night to obtain their business in the form of orders for scientific instruments.
