Pros

- Get to work on cutting-edge technology - Lots of interesting on-going projects at many different layers of the embedded software stack (kernel, microcontroller, application level) - Teams are small so there is lots of responsibility and a good amount of collaboration, but most of your work is done independently - Compensation is very good (especially for a hardware manufacturing company, in NY!) and hardwork is rewarded - Company is doing very well, even through Covid-19. Constantly securing government contracts - Opportunities to travel to support customer events - Benefits are great - The new office in NY is fantastic!

Cons

- Company is established, but still growing. IT infrastructure can be painful at times. - There will be days where you will work longer hours, especially when pushing for new releases, but overall work/life balance is good

Pros

The Product cultivated, developed, and provided by this Company is truly impactful to the world we live in. It's very exciting to be "in the mix" and part of the intimate process flow, that ultimately puts our technology and capability into real environments. Customers who utilize our Products have very interesting, critically important, job functions and tasks to execute. It feels good, to be able to come to work each day, and know that in some small way, your efforts are helping to make a direct impact in extremely precarious situations. The employees recruited in, are already very skilled in their area of expertise, have extremely fascinating career backgrounds. The passion exhibited by everyone - long term and new employees - motivates me to be better and work harder each day. Our Product, and the applications it can be deployed into, excites my passion like no other career has done before. I am grateful for this opportunity. The Company has a lot to offer an employee. The employees are what make Persistent continuously elevate to the next level.

Cons

Being a small, rapidly growing, private Company - everyone wears many hats, and the internal "growing pains" are felt long and deep. This can be frustrating at times: juggling many responsibilities, owning several priorities, and operating within a smaller network. Seasoned, key people, become task saturated. Job descriptions are well defined; however, that is just the entry basis. Once onboard, your skills will be needed to complete many tasks, and employees can be stretched very thin at times. I do not feel these are necessarily "con"s, it's the reality of small-to-mid organizations, who spread their wings and unfold at a rapid pace. The passion, employees bring to the table each day, are what makes the "growing pains" bearable. The excitement of what the Company does, makes coming to work each day worth every ounce of energy given. The collaboration and sharing, is amazing. All these factors roll up, to make Persistent a great place to be, even on the tough days.
