Pros

In the PetsHotel, it was generally a fun environment--play with dogs, take them on walks, do some cleaning. As a part-time position, the pay is pretty generous, flexible hours, etc.

Cons

Upward movement is limited, and when it happens, your responsibilities will multiply but your salary will not. The work is physically straining, best suited to younger employees, but management looks for older potential employees who look good on paper but who end up bailing after a few weeks due to the strenuous workload.

Pros

Working with dogs and tending to their needs is a rewarding experience. You have the ability to appeal to a customer and they can request you, which creates a bond between you, the pet parent and the animal. The co-workers that you can click with make working here a great place to be.

Cons

Working in the salon is difficult and very hectic. The environment is compact and they try to fit several girls and dogs in it. There's not enough room and it just makes it crazy. Especially on the weekends! Everyone is angry. Management does not understand and will force you to do so many dogs even when you can't do it safely. Money is all that matters to them! People have been known to cheat the system and it's not fair. Don't work in the salon here. Not worth your well-being.

Pros

Getting to know regular customers

Cons

Incompetent corporate, poor choices when renewing products (GO RAW campaign, it's a joke within the company because it sounds like porn), poor training (you have to teach yourself most things because the training videos do nothing). Lowered pay for new associates since 2013, meaning less and less employees who care about animals or even customers. The promotions in the company are a joke, with the DM hand picking their favorites to move up the chain, oftentimes moving people into positions they have no business being in (I.e Pet Care Manager-this is a position that requires very niche knowledge that the company DOES NOT provide), and then the DM refuses to fix the problem. Hiring in STORE MANAGERS has always been a big no-no for me, these people have ZERO knowledge of how the company works and it takes a VERY long time for them to get it, if they ever do, meaning most stores do NOT have a strong manager and the inmates run the asylum. Lazy DMs will bounce good employees around like chess pieces throughout the district with no thought to how far away from home they are being sent. It takes FAR too long to fire poor performers, and good employees/managers burn themselves out picking up the slack.
