Pros

I truly enjoy what I do and the group of people I work with. Learned how to groom and very talented coworkers in the salon that have taught me so much about grooming

Cons

Each store varies depending on management but they WILL dictate whether or not the job is enjoyable/worth staying. Management is horrendous at my store, discrimination against employees, inappropriate comments and behavior from upper management regularly, we are a very successful and profitable salon but they always want more, no appreciation and our hard work generates bonuses for managers yet we are poorly compensated. They expect far too much with too little resources. We are expected to groom our dogs AND answer phones AND take walk ins. It's insane. they charge too low for grooming services and the pay is advertised as 50% commission but the way they calculate your pay, you end up making less than that. If it weren't for my coworkers and the steady income (despite being low) I'd have quit a long time ago

Pros

You get to work with animals and you can get some nice co workers( if you're lucky)

Cons

When I started here, it was great, and I had support of management. Then one of the managers got promoted, and he became a bully and was putting people down, had an attitude all the time, and basically made people feel like they weren't worth anything. If you even tried to address anything he made, you feel even worse about yourself. Then they start cutting hours and expect you to get everything done with very little staff and it's unreasonable. And don't even ask for a raise or more hours, because that won't happen but your upper management will get a raise. No problem no questions asked.

Pros

You get to work with animals and care for them.

Cons

Not enough workers or flexable hours available. Expect too much out of you for pay. 3 people to close then entire building on busy nights.
