Pros

You can play with dogs at work, and the offices are clean.

Cons

Where do I even begin. I got hired on as an experienced hire and within the first month realized I made a huge mistake accepting the offer. The people at petsmart don’t actually care about getting better, they are just conditioned to be afraid of layoffs and brainwashed to think petsmart cares about them. Around the time I quit they announced their 4th layoff in ~10 years. Every manager is a micro manager and doesn’t actually train you, they just make sure you do your computer work. If you want to sit in a sad cubicle all day and be a part of a cult, this is the place for you. If I was young and had ambition, I would steer very clear of this place. They can’t hire actual external talent, just check on LinkedIn to see how many people actually apply for their jobs. Their business is tanking and management has no idea how to fix it.

Pros

It is a very strict environment when it comes to safety, it's a rigorous process just to become a grooming trainee and the people at this store are more experienced and empathetic than most

Cons

The expectations as far as sales and time are unreasonable and greedy. No petsmart salon in the district has made it's plan in YEARS and because of the greed and increasing pressure it burns you out pretty quick. A Lot of regular call outs and not a lot of accountability towards those people so it becomes everyone elses problem

Pros

-Locations across the country make it easy to transfer. This is especially great for military spouses. -Academy. They will train you to become a pet stylist. Over the years the trainers have gotten better but if the academy trainer is bad this isn't really a pro. -Tips

Cons

-You are seen as a way to make money. Quantity over quality. -Continued training is non existent beyond the annual "safety training" which never really changed over several years. -Consistently had to work through breaks and lunches to stay on schedule or had to stay late to finish scheduled dogs. -Pay. 50% commission when the prices are too low means you make less than you would at other salons
