Pros

Great place to get your foot in retail and sales. Always throwing new products at you to try to promote to customers.

Cons

Hard to understand when you get you yearly and bi-yearly review. Also hard to understand when you get a raise.

Pros

- definitely love the work - get along with most of the team - things can go pretty smoothly once you get the patterns down - often meet cheerful customers - tips are mostly fair in terms of the work you do when customers do tip (on occasions) - being around animals is rewarding most times - the grooming salon is closed off from the chaos of the rest of the store - commission pays well when accomplished - discounts on store supplies - laid back conversations with fellow co-workers makes for a good time

Cons

- lack of proper training and education in animal care or emergency situations and procedures - lack of proper training in customer services procedures - lack of proper training in work place safety - lack of proper training with SAM system - lack of training, period - store manager constantly pulling bait-and-switches - managers often lying - breaking commission is near impossible if you so much as speak out about anything - retaliation by cutting hours - write ups for things that could be avoided if there were proper training - write ups for reasons that management has made up - not to mention grooming assistants are told to pretty much by their own equipment rather than the store supplying it - the pay, when you don't break commission, is terrible - management does with scheduling for important - favoritism - cut throat co-workers - explaining that you need to ask questions about things as a poor substitute for real training - lack of positive feedback from management - the manager in the grooming salon is a task-manager, doling out goals that are extremely difficult to accomplish on top of regular duties - in my case only one of the groomers actually helps with things that are too challenging to handle alone - other co-works will often brush off anyone needing assistance when they don't like you - turn over is so high there's ALWAYS an ad out for positions in the store/salon - every co-worker hates their job, from the salon to the floor - NO OVERTIME, meaning 30 hours minimum required, but often getting sent home early because there's "nothing to do", and yet still expected to work more hours than scheduled
