      Petco where animals come first but employees do not

      Pros

      In General, co -workers operate as a team, my employees (in Saugus Ma) were devoted to me as well as keeping the store sharp and performing. If you like both retail and animals this IS the company to work for,,,animal welfare does come first

      Cons

      Upper,corporate management, doesn't support its store management team either in monetary compensation ,time off or in flexibility. especially in regards to keeping the store staffed,management coverage (as in my case-my store was designed for 3,yet I was the only one,,taking on the duties of GM but not receiving the benefits/salary of such.)

      Pros

      Interaction with animals and people, both customers and employees. Learning about animal care. Daily interaction with animals customers bring in.

      Cons

      Poor treatment of employees and management. No communication about expectations. Poor employee moral overall. Hiring of some employees who know nothing about animals. Customers who treat their animals poorly and inability to act on this. Customers who bring in injured animals and refuse to take them to the vet.
