Pros
Easy to get a job, even as a new nurse. They hire brand new graduates straight into the ER and into the units. I personally don't feel this is a "pro", as it takes experience to be able to handle critical patients....but it might be a pro to a new nurse who might have a hard time getting hired on somewhere without prior experience.
Cons
Education is the WORST. The orientation process is the worst I have ever seen or experienced. Luckily I had years under my belt already when I got hired on, because no one follows specific protocols half the time. There is no "standard", everyone does everything their own way, which is hardly ever the correct way. Half the nurses I have asked even know what core measures are, or why they matter. I guess in the case of most of the nurses working there, ignorance is bliss because they don't even notice they are sending home a potentially septic patient. This entire organization seems to be focused on money money money. ZERO focus on safety. The managers CARE about patient safety, but their hands are tied by administration, whose only concern is about "numbers", and doing more with less staff.
