Wonderful place to work

Pros

-A very fun place to work -Fulfilling, meaningful work; I feel like I'm doing something that really matters in my position. -My managers are wonderful. They're reasonable, kind, and very approachable. They care about you as a person and they care about your growth. -Everyone REALLY cares about their job -Coworkers are fun and interesting -CEO (Bert) is really cool, he began his career as a zookeeper and worked his way up. He knows what he's talking about and earned his position. -I am proud to work here. I believe in the zoo's mission wholeheartedly.

Cons

-The pay isn't amazing but they are a non-profit which I think is important to remember and, personally, I'd rather make a little less at a job I love with great management than make more at a job I hate with management that makes me miserable -It is hard to move into a keeper position if that's what you're looking for but there are pathways like Volunteer Keeper Assistant and it does happen. Remember that it's notoriously hard to get a keeper position anywhere.

Bad and Becoming Worse

Business Outlook

Pros

Flexible scheduling, free membership, discount on food, gift shop, and events.

Cons

Clique-ish coworkers who are extremely rude, management that act like tyrants and refuse change, even when it comes to safety and keeping their employees' morale high, disconnected lines of communication between management and individual workers, outdated equipment and no intent on management's end to replace them, poor working conditions, overworked and understaffed constantly.
