Pros

Retirement plan, pay may be decent depending on what group you are in.

Cons

No remote work. Because all county employees can't be offered remote work. They want you to help clean up the air, but they won't allow remote work. Bullying can be common depending on your organization. If you require ADA accommodations for Mental health, they will probably give you crap about it. They didn't like the fact that I recorded the Director of IT filibustering and refusing my ADA accommodation requests. And HR and the department in question did not do any research and create a report as required by law that show why my job could not be changed to accommodate me. The only thing that the department did was to state that that my requests cost more than $1 and they could not afford to make changes. So they told me that I had to submit my requests to HR, then HR would submit the requests to the department. The department would then submit the reply to HR, who would inform me of the decision. Needless to say, I was not offered the accommodations that would have helped me to be successful, without affecting the operation of the department.

Pros

Some of the people you will meet and work with really care about the community. The projects you will work on are often meaningful to the community. The benefits are fairly good and well explained.

Cons

Top management cannot seem to prioritize anything. Everything is a priority and therefore nothing is a priority. There is currently a lot of burnout and disillusionment with top management.
