Extremely outdated and toxic culture; micro-management from multiple managers, no form of professional development at all and expected to do what you're told with no questions asked. There is no diversity at all within the company, aside from one individual in the IT dept. The culture is the worst I've ever encountered in my professional experience of almost 20 years. I was lied to and misled by my manager and other leaders in the company from my first interview about professional development with the company, being able to pursue a role in sales and just about receiving constructive feedback to help my growth and development. I never had a 6 month review or 12 month review during my time there, and nothing that I would categorize as beneficial to my development ever came from a meeting with my manager. He just didn't know what he was doing as a manager, nice guy and a great recruiter but not a leader, just a yes man for the upper management to control. Occasionally we'd have bi-weekly 1v1 meetings with our manager, but there was a 5 month span in 2024 where that didn't happen so it's just at the whim of your manager. My favorite part is how you have to be in office everyday but the company's two most important people, the CEO/Owner/President and the CFO work from home at their leisure and pop in throughout the week.
Finally, they had no social media or marketing presence in the local Indy market aside from employees posting on their own LinkedIn pages. In July they announced to us that they were hiring a firm to help with social media and marketing engagement and I can't tell you how disappointing it feels to be in a meeting and understand that the upper management group of a company wants you to be excited for something that should have been going on for at least 5 years already.
Lastly, I cannot tell you how negative and depressing the overall energy is in the office. Countless times the recruiting manager and sales manager would lament about an issue and the conversation would ultimately end with the line "if such and such doesn't happen I'm gonna kill myself" . The first time I heard it I was shocked but it just continued without a thought or care as to how those words might impact others.
So in closing, not a place for anyone looking to work at a company that's diverse, inclusive, empowering and development-focused. If you like people who hate their job and hate going to work everyday, you'll love it at Pinnacle.
