Pros

Plenty of hours so your paycheck is decent, but it’s all mandatory overtime. It’s not optional.

Cons

If you, a friend, or a loved one are interested in working for Piper, I implore you to KEEP LOOKING. The company has been on mandatory overtime for months (about 56 hours a week), and sure some people like the extra cash. But on the Monday of Thanksgiving week they announced mandatory seven days a week for some departments because they are behind in their production for the year. Even though there were days were there was no work to be done in some departments because they literally didn’t have the parts to do their job. This company does not care about the welfare of its employees, only it’s output. Let me repeat that: this company does not care about the welfare of its employees, only it’s output. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with rude and uncaring supervisors if you’re sick and make the effort to come into work and ask to go home early when there’s no more work to be done.

It helps us know how our efforts are being received as well as what can be done differently so a positive environment can be felt by all Piper employees. While we certainly do care about our employees' welfare, if it isn't apparent to our employees, then we need to see what changes can be made in order to make it so. Pros

It has benefits, 401k, insurance. You can learn about aviation.

Cons

They have no regard for safety to the planes they build that are going to FLY IN THE AIR, by hiring people whom never had aviation experience, train them for two weeks, pay them $12-$14 an hour to start and expect them to put together a $500,000 motor in very rushed amount of time because Piper ended up going with a company to purchase their engines to save a few thousand dollars per engine, Which I understand, but, in turn was not at all a wise idea, because the product doesn't work correctly. They are having to back track and go back to the company they originally purchased their product from. Employees are constantly getting yelled at to rush the work - WHICH is not having any regard for people's safety whom are going to fly the plane or purchase them. Why would you rush work on a plane that fly's in the air. The managers are seriously mean and rude to the employees. I don't know what happened, but they seem to forget their is an etiquette on how to treat your employees. They sell these planes for hundreds of thousands of dollars and they pay their employees $12 - $14 an hour. They say in the beginning when they hire you - you will get raises. Don't count on it. They do not give an hour lunch. They threaten employees if they do not work Saturday or Sundays that they will charge their PTO. Management after all these years has gone down the drain. They are angry. The owners are not appreciative of their employees. The higher ups literally come in all the time and instead of saying hello or whatever they immediately bark. So if you are looking to get underpaid and not feel appreciated then work for Piper.
