Pros

People: Smart, passionate and motivated. Level of talent continually increasing. Our growth rate and huge addressable market mean there will continue to be opportunities for advancement. I have never felt in competition with another employee for a raise or promotion. Product: Best-in-class data, features/tools and customer support. Every business decision can benefit from our products. The depth & quality of information on a profile is unmatched and yet we're still improving our product/data at a much faster clip than any competitor. If in some alternate reality my mom asked me for a recommendation between PitchBook and our core competitors I wouldn't hesitate, even for a second, before recommending PitchBook. Impact: Unparalleled ability to make an impact. Ownership is encouraged. Lean and mean mindset remains in tact. This is easily the best thing about my role. Product Leadership: Product leadership is stellar. Two new VP hires are bar-raisers. VP of product management has been with PB for over 10 years and understands the business/product/market better than anyone except maybe our CEO. CEO: Our CEO can be demanding but he has a great understanding of the business and sets high expectations for performance. PB lore has many stories of scrappy, frugal moves to ensure the health of the business that I love to tell new hires. I think he does a great job balancing empowerment/ownership while also stress testing/scrutinizing decisions. Mission: Providing transparency into the capital markets. Helping companies who are developing transformative technologies get access to capital at a fair valuation. Helping pension funds grow their assets and provide financial security to their pensioners. If you think differently you don't understand PB.

Cons

Less work flexibility (where, when) than tech peers. Minimal equity upside and slightly below market cash compensation (tho it is improving). Both make hiring and retention a challenge which is compounded by the complexity of our product and the markets we serve. It takes over a year before a Product Manager is producing at 100%. Hiring, onboarding and training also take time away from the leads who are the most knowledgeable individuals about a strategic area. I hope PB continues to take steps to keep high performers.

Pros

Good culture, Invest in their employees with new trainings and resources, Interesting product and a fun sell.

Cons

Hard to make quota if you're an outside hire in the first year. It's very challenging product to learn and if you're not familiar with the space it can be difficult to get up to speed.
