It sounds like your experience overall was a positive one and thank you for your review. PlanMember understands how important compensation is which is why employees enjoy a generous package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance, a company 401(k) plan with employer match, supplemental life insurance, paid time off and holidays and more.

Great workplace community

Pros

The community here is great. Even during crunch time, there's a strong sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Supervisors are open to helping employees who are struggling and are very focused on helping their team succeed to the best of their ability. Benefits (medical, dental, etc) are great. Employee contributions are valued.

Cons

Salary leaves something to be desired. It's not bad, but it's still below industry average. The yearly salary increase is percentage-based, so you won't see substantial increases for a number of years. Communication between departments is often confusing.

Part of the appeal of working at PlanMember, as you mention in your review, is the people, as well as the location and lifestyle that Santa Barbara offers. Salary offers are unique to each employee and based on prior experience, education, certifications, securities licenses and other factors, so applying an industry standard is not always a primary consideration. The HR team is available to speak with you personally about your situation, so please reach out to them.

Pros

People are lovely here and fun to work with. Workload can be relaxed for the most part. Great opportunity to obtain financial licenses.

Cons

Underpaid position, work can become hectic when understaffed. Resources are out of date and processing can be annoying. There is not a lot of vertical movement.

PlanMember offers career training opportunities and prefers to promote from within whenever possible, giving employees the chance to advance. It’s also important to remember that lateral movement within an organization can provide new learning opportunities, especially at PlanMember where our products and services are complex and highly regulated. We encourage employees to meet with their manager and HR to discuss how PlanMember can help empower them. Contact us so we can further discuss your experience, we're always open to hearing the opinions of our current and former employees.
