Pros

I appreciate the collegial environment of this firm and it’s willingness to allow employees to work remotely. This helps the firm attract talent and instills trust in its employees. The training it provides new employees is exemplary. I am grateful to work for a financial services firm that offers a variety of financial product offerings to teachers and educators with an emphasis on customer service and support.

Cons

I haven’t been exposed to any.

Pros

Great work/life balance. HR has an open door policy and will meet with you and provide support. Wonderful location. CEO is a good person and does care about the employees. My supervisor and the upper management I worked with regularly were kind, helpful and collaborative. The product they sell is something I believe in and can recommend with a clear conscience. I was sad to leave.

Cons

Sometimes upper management doesn't disseminate information as well as they should and that can lead to hurt feelings. There seems to be an underling distrust of the employees. I found other department managers are not interested in responding to emails or helping other department employees do they best they could in their position. (My supervisor agreed with this but could never get things to improve.) One manager in particular would never respond and then chastise you for moving forward as best you could.

We’re happy to hear your experience was predominantly positive and that you felt supported and heard by the majority of your colleagues. Your initiative is admirable and an asset you will be able to apply anywhere you decide to work. Though responsiveness between departments is strongly encouraged and a basic show of respect, we understand this doesn’t always happen and will continue to improve on this for PlanMember employees.

Poor Pay Discourages Most Employees, and Terrible Raises Make Them Quit

Pros

For more than thirty year, they have provided retirement planning solutions for people in public education, mission-driven organizations, and individuals and families.

Cons

The pay was pretty awful here. It was nowhere near the industry standards. Upper management must take the blame for it, as they didn't do a decent job of increasing pay with time. I could have tolerated the bad pay if the workloads were decent. They were not. The workloads were very stressful and exhausting. It was not worth it. The yearly raises were a joke and never met anyone's expectations.
