Poor Leadership

Pros

Some of the smartest and fun colleagues I have ever worked with. Genuinely engaged professionals who believe in the mission.

Cons

Leadership deteriorated greatly in the past 2 years. Folks with solid experience are let go off and replaced by cheaper barely qualified people who cannot lead teams. Morale is low and despite all the right training for managers, folks feel unappreciated, overworked, and underpaid. When work/life balance is addressed with management, no action follows except reminders of revenue, winning more business, etc. There is definitely a great compensation disparity across geographies. Leadership became cliquish, distanced, and self-serving (essential travel was cut but numerous and costly leadership offsite meetings continue happening).

Pros

Great products, very interesting sector, intelligent and nice people, friendly managers, nice work culture.

Cons

My huge gripe is that no one below Director level has any opportunityvto earn bonuses, and they deviate greatly from industry standard comp plans for anyone who is sales-adjacent but not an actual sales rep. Results in being underpaid with no possible way to earn bonuses. Theyve even TAKEN AWAY(!!) comp that some people have been getting but in their minds "should not be getting." Very disappointing and a really life-changing for-the-worse move. Completely inappropriate!! Ruins an otherwise good company.

Pros

- Best colleagues I've ever had - Ok benefits (urban sports, home internet, 2 lunches/week, small home office and L&D) - Nice office - Remote-ish (they seem to want you to come into the office more and more, but don't actively check that you do) - Work/life balance, if you push for it

Cons

- Uncompetitive (and not adjusted for inflation) salary - Salary tied to location (at least if you move to a cheaper country) - No growth (either career or salary) - Looks like profitability is a long way off (if ever) - Unsecure/demotivating environment (fear of layoffs, threatening HR) - Limited room to travel and a restrictive budget - *VERY* US-centric: Planet tries to brand itself as a global company, but it's clear that the only people and positions that matter are in the US. - No works council in place - Moving abroad is a mess, remote working is only possible if you stay in a country where they already have an office.
