Pay is not competitive when compared to other large public accounting firms. Bonuses are low. They don't seem to be in touch with what is considered competitive pay, especially for CPA's who have a lot of other opportunities. Benefits very expensive if you want to cover a spouse and/or children 401k match is low Very political, must know how to play the game "Relatively jerk free" is not the best description of this environment Very high workload and very high expectations from day one with very little training A somewhat immature environment for experienced hires; fraternity/sorority mentality seems to exist in many departments, including HR and administration They will not consider anyone at the in-charge level and above who doesn't have a CPA; this has it's pluses, but it also causes the firm to lose out on people who could have some good potential to grow in the firm. Very old-fashioned in some regards when it comes to policies and administrative procedures, and pay practices. Extremely competitive; even though we were part of the same team, I got the sense that some people would stab me in the back in a moment if given a chance

This Firm is all about the Practice staff - if you work in administration you are on the outside. HR seems to be out of control - like they run the entire Firm. You have the support of the Practice leaders but if HR doesn't think you're a star then they push and push until the leaders cave.
