Relaxed working environment with opportunities to grow and management that actually cares about their employees.

Pros

- Very smart engineers that know the codebase very well and been around for a long time - Everyone is friendly and willing to work with you. Haven't experienced any elitism like how you may experience with a bay area company - Benefits are great. Compensation could be a little better compared to other companies - Flexible working conditions - Easy to work on things that you want to work on. You are not pigeonholed unless you choose to be that way - Planview hasn't laid off any engineers (at least to my knowledge) since the economy and inflation took a toll on many other companies - Private company so you don't have to deal with the pressure of pleasing investors

Cons

- Really old codebase - Slowly trying to modernize the codebase but many engineers are stuck in old ways of doing things that are slowing the rate of modernization down - Lots of meetings that I feel are unnecessary and prevent me from getting work done - Need to talk to many different people to get things changed/approved

More focused acquisitions than employee retention

Pros

I was on a product team with brilliant and thoughtful peers and a manager that really cared. I would 100% work with any of them again. It was an amazing culture.

Cons

Although my product manager did his best to keep me, the company overall made almost no retention efforts in the 2 months I was job hunting. When all-hands meeting are flooded with acquisition details and high-fives for sales numbers, I should not have been able to double my pay out in the marketplace.
