Pros

Great hours, great pay at the research associate level. Lots to learn and a lot of opportunity to work with some of the best economists in the nation. If interested in PhD programs later on in life, or if interested in gaining lots of responsibility early on, this is the place to be.

Cons

No cons - this is a great company to work for. I've enjoyed my time here very much so far.

Toxic Work Environment

Pros

They are pretty flexible and have a decent work-life balance. The ability to work remote is a plus.

Cons

They are starting to outsource jobs and worrisome pace. The compensation is well below where it should be. The people seem nice at first but things will turn toxic fast. You are never rewarded or acknowledged for doing a good job. If something goes wrong, they will constantly put you down and blame you even when it isn't your fault. If you don't know one of the many new processes or procedures that are released on a monthly basis, they will belittle you. There is no opportunity for growth. It seems almost impossible to get a promotion even when you have been at the company for a long time. They are constantly changing the organization structure so you can never get comfortable with your job and the people you work with. Overall, Precision AQ is a toxic work environment that makes you feel like a terrible employee even though you have never had a problem elsewhere at any point in your career.

Struggling to Keep Up With Growth

Pros

Day-to-day colleagues (depending on team) are collaborative, professional and supportive. Rapid growth provides sustainability and growth opportunities. Competitive (but not superior) pay and benefits for industry. Hybrid/remote structure offers work-life flexibility (AQ terms it work-life “integration” vs. “balance”). Interesting and engaging work (for the most part) in a complex industry. Long-term outlook appears positive.

Cons

In short, AQ executive leadership has failed to navigate ambitious growth. The new AQ (recent rebranding) doesn’t have a clear identity internally, undercutting an ambitious and commendable vision. Poor scaling, communication, and integration (a product of multiple acquisitions) has created inefficiencies that hamper ability for employees to do their jobs. Service lines operate as individual companies and often compete for business (no incentive to do otherwise since all service lines are judged based on individual performance). Strong individual contributions and leadership have been largely undercut by poor guidance/communication from executive leadership. Agency lifestyle often comes with nontraditional work-life balance; though managing this is possible with the right mindset (and support). Corporate culture is hollow - programs and initiatives are overshadowed from declining benefits and insincere/noncommittal commentary from executive leadership.
