Pros

The company is not political at all and offers substantial career development for those that prove they can perform at high levels. Promotions given based on performance, not seniority. I've had 3 promotions in 4 years. You are never bored in your job and are always challenged to make improvements and contributions to the company. Not a lot of layers of management, not a lot of red tape. If you like hands on environments, you get to experience some amazing technologies and products.

Cons

Everyone in the company works very hard. This can mean some long hours but it's very rewarding (just not for everyone). Also, you have to be able to handle pressure in a fast paced environment (again, not for everyone).

Complete & utter chaos!

Pros

Decent pay, but not compared to the hours you are expected to put in.

Cons

Salaried support staff is expected to work 7 days a week AND holidays. There is zero training or guidance for new or existing employees. Business systems and manufacturing processes are ancient - it's like stepping back in time. ZERO customer focus. The only concern is the almighty dollar - they will sacrifice their employees, their equipment and their customers, to hit their revenue goals.

Pros

When the bonuses were good it made financial sense. The work life balance is horrible. When you factor the hours spent vs. your pay including bonuses your $/hour aren't very good.

Cons

*work life balance terrible *little to no investment in new technologies *unrealistic demands on organizations without an up front investment in people or capital improvements *always working harder and not smarter *GE has too much influence on this company-degrading earnings. *Division leadership (Small Structures) isn't competent about the product they produce or about how to product it *arogance at the top is intolerable and unhealthy to the morale
