Once again Executives are tone deaf

Pros

Benefits for a family are good. If I didn't need to pay for health insurance for my family, I would not stay.

Cons

Executive leadership continues to put more and more pressure on the people doing the work or the managers of those people. Then they change the pay scale to make it impossible to get a raise as a mid level manager or below. So, even though you say it's not a pay decrease, it is as people count on those annual increases and the levels that you matched people up to the work is sometimes $15K difference. Additionally, the difference between Western Washington and everywhere else is absolutely asinine.

Ivory Tower Hierarchy

Pros

There are many talented hard working employees trying their best to make healthcare work better.

Cons

Many executives lead through title and posturing. It's a highly political climate where you have to constantly navigate who's in the room rather than have open discussions. Executive leaders are openly misaligned and leave it to middle management or employees to figure out how to navigate, then place blame if they don't see the output each executive demanded.

Pros

Good pay and great coworkers who care.

Cons

It's no secret that Premera is a top heavy and top-down organization. This org structure is crippling innovation, employee morale, and customer service. It also makes it disheartening for employees who are trying to get their ideas heard. Some leaders claim that they are redesigning the people strategy and striving to become a place where people feel included and empowered, but I did not see anything new or tangible coming out of that area. Culture change efforts have been derailed because certain leaders felt their positions were threatened.
