Pros
I've worked for a few staffing agencies in my career. Some were run better than others. Some THOUGHT they were doing things the "Right Way". Some just recycled college grad after college grad, ready to fire them the minute they became successful and shove another piece of "Cheap Meat" into their spot. Some of them even made me embarrassed to talk about what I did for a living. These are the main reasons I've stayed at Prestige Staffing for the past 5 years.
Prestige is run by a group of executives that are driven to grow and be successful, but they want to do it the right way and they genuinely care about the growth and development of the individuals that contribute to that success. If you're putting forth the effort and are doing things the "Right Way", they will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need to be successful.
They hire people with the intent of having them grow with the company long term. It's not one of those shops where you either become a sales person in 6 months or you get out. There are career paths in Sales, Recruiting, Training and Administrative fields that allow just about anyone willing to put in the work to grow. The compensation plan is also very generous for top and mid-level producers as well.
I genuinely love coming to work every day. I love the people I work with. Do I love everyone? No, of course not, but I genuinely enjoy being around almost everyone I work with. I genuinely care about their growth and development as Recruiters and Sales people and I learn something new from someone on a daily basis. It's an open environment where everyone is encouraged interject with ideas and potential solutions to problems, whether you're a brand new Recruiter or a seasoned Executive.
There is one item that I've harped on a few times here, and that's the "Right Way". What is the "Right Way"? Sometimes, doing what gets money in the door fastest is NOT the right thing to do. Sometimes, you're clients best interests come before your company's best interests. It's difficult to define. One of those "You know it when you see it" things. Prestige knows that the most important thing a staffing agency can have is trust. Trust from their clients that they'll do what's best for them. Trust from their candidates that they're putting them in a position to be successful and not just make a quick buck off of them. You gain that trust by doing things the "Right Way".
On a lighter note, we get a TON of benefits here. I tell people all of the time that working at Prestige really isn't the "Real World" (I use quotes too much, I know). Some of the perks include:
- 3:00 Fridays: If you're hitting your goals you get to leave at 3:00.
- Reimbursement for Gym Memberships
- Company outings and happy hours (Not cheesy, ridiculous ones that are mandatory. Just a laid back event for anyone that wants to come. You wont be looked down upon or get frozen out of promotions if you have a family and/or just can't make it. )
- PAID Paternity leave
- Free gum in the COO's office
Cons
Occasionally, the company can keep people around too long in hopes that they'll turn things around (myself included). Very rarely, it works out (I like to think it did) but more often then not it doesn't. If anything, this isn't really a Con. They're going to give you an honest shot to be successful if you bring the right attitude and mindset to the table.
