Pros

Wicked smart faculty and graduate students, and exceptionally strong undergraduates that are a pleasure to teach

Cons

Post docs are few and far between, and there is a tendency for them to fall through the cracks - not being included on faculty or graduate student email lists means being the last person in the world to hear about important policy changes or social activities

Pros

Great professors, freedom to work whenever you want, and your advisors care a lot about your progress through the program. You have tons of ownership over whatever you are working on.

Cons

Although the workload is self-imposed, you often feel like you have to be working as hard as you can, as much as you can. It can eat away at a good work-life balance.
