- Operational inefficiencies in planning and strategic alignment (pretty standard at a company this size) - Internal growth structure seems to be built out well for other departments/verticals but it's not universal

HUGE culture shift started in ~2018. If you worked in defined benefit, you were easily (and quickly) promoted if you met the following criteria: Young, Female, Attractive, and little to no experience in the business or defined benefit. If you met that criteria, the older male managers and male “leaders” loved you. If you were anything else…best of luck to you. HR was a joke, especially if you make a complaint about your leader that you were unfairly being retaliated against. The company and leaders make you believe that there is NO better place to work in Des Moines….however after leaving Principal and working for a company that honestly values me, it’s like I left a cult. This company and leaders will not value you, unless you are part of the cool kids club and meet the criteria noted above.
