Pros

Pay as a social worker is higher than at many places.

Cons

Was terminated from the Greenville Memorial ED during the process of obtaining FMLA benefits, which my supervisor encouraged me to do. Some FMLA accommodations were approved. Some hadn’t been approved yet because my supervisor pushed back on them/didn’t agree with them. Terminated for something extremely trivial, which I’m pretty sure was just an excuse to get rid of me since termination related to FMLA is unlawful. If I had the money at the time, I would have hired a private attorney and taken the matter to court. I went through the internal appeals process after the termination, utilizing assistance from an attorney from a non-profit (Protection and Advocacy) at no charge to me, but it didn’t help. My appeal was denied. Prisma was unlawful in my termination and discriminatory toward me because I was applying for FMLA.

Pros

Good name in community, at best.

Cons

Supervisor and assistant supervisor should have both been fired over workplace violence. Could not believe what happened. Will never work for them again.

Pros

Horrible shared experiences with your coworkers helps bond you together pretty quick

Cons

- Health insurance is terrible (you'd expect better from a health care system...but no) - NO paid holidays, everything you take time off for if out of one PTO bucket. - "Management" is very much 'do as I say, not as I do' - Pay is terrible. YES, Prisma did raise their base wage from $11 to $14 per hour...but that didn't help hourly employees that were not getting base pay. So we are still grossly underpaid for our work. - Cafeteria and fast food franchises inside the hospital are ridiculously overpriced - we are a captive audience since we are not allowed to leave the hospital campus for lunch, and they think it's ok for lunch to cost so much.
