Upper management needs to trim the fat

Pros

Caring for people who became ill because of the work they did to serve our country is very rewarding. The client's are a wonderful group of people.

Cons

Upper management is completely out of touch with anything regarding patient care. They don't allow nurses to wear nametags to client's homes. The elderly get frustrated when they don't know who the nurses are working in their homes. The documentation is so horrific, the people explaining it don't even understand. They try to manipulate the way the nurses document.

Don’t do it

Pros

The people are great but it’s not enough to make you stay

Cons

I’ve never worked with a company that made it so hard to do my work. The managers are unattached to what their teams are doing, rude, and don’t listen to any feedback. HR is a joke, they assume things instead of actually investigating an issue and give names of people when things should be confidential. HR puts credentialing on Staffing and it doesn’t make sense, there needs to be some fix there or HR just needs to actually do the work. They believe in working harder and not smarter. The best employees pretty much end up getting punished because they have to make up for whatever else slackers aren’t doing. While management is fully aware of who isn’t working, they don’t address the issue nor try to set a plan in place to get them back on track, they pawn them off on other teams instead of firing the dead weight. Case managers want to do the staffing and overstep boundaries every day. Whether an administrative person or a caregiver, I wouldn’t work at this place ever.

Pros

We are professionals and pay is median level.

Cons

As we are professionals ourselves possessing a BSN, being treated like a 3 year old and having mommy threaten us with spankings is unheard of. I left because of this totally unprofessional approach to handling employees. Caring for dying clients includes their families as they ultimately are the main caregivers. Not to include them or take them into consideration is totally against what nursing is all about.
