Pros

They are extremely great about inclusivity and they have support groups that you can join for additional support and to network with others who might be going through the same thing or identity as one way. These groups would be amazing if the job itself allowed for you to have time to join the meetings like others in higher roles are able to.

Cons

Very low compensation for high and unrealistic expectations. The volume of claims is constantly increasing and staff is short, likely due to the lack of pay for the amount of hours that you put in that you aren’t compensated extra for. You will be treated like a number to push to close claims but even with the ideal numbers, it will never be enough for a break and it never slows down. If you need time off, your work won’t be touched when you leave and most things will be on fire when you get back. Zero support and understanding from leaders who simply want to do the most minimal and expect you to do the most and figure out brand new situations in claims on your own.

Dangling carrots

Pros

Good benefits and people are nice. Customers are awful

Cons

I exceeded my metrics every month since the floor and still couldn’t get promoted bc I kept getting shifted around supervisors. I watched people way less hardworking and talented get the internships and interviews that I killer myself for months to get…..because their supervisors magically got them promoted and I had a supervisor that was never here, with me basically running their team. I got nothing out of that, just 3x times as much work, but laughably thought, “oh this will be great in a STAR interview - I didn’t pass the interview because I didn’t have enough “results” or “numbers”. Progressive ignored me for six months. Then, a job finally came up for something I have a degree in, model employee (21% PHA….), and even though it was a very technical masters degree/certification, Progressive didn’t want to see my portfolio or even ask me about it - they said I couldn’t provide enough results in my interview. Yeah, no kidding I didn’t have experiences and results to share in my interview because I begged for opportunities and everyone just would say “oh next month” - I left this month after months of progressive edging and it has been the best thing to ever happen to me. If you can do PHA, just go find a sales job. Progressive doesn’t care about merit or hard work (just supervisor luck). I’m sad that Progressive treated me the way they did after all the hard work I put in. Moral of the story? Go enjoy a little bit more aux 2 each day because that’s the only way to survive that job. Ignore the dangling carrots they strap to you during onboarding. Your work doesn’t matter - your supe does. Shame.

Pros

Nice work environment, promotes inclusion, supports internal promotions, competitive salary.

Cons

Counterproductive procedures that result in unrealistic expectations and incredibly heavy workload on employees. Not accepting of suggestions for improvement. Inadequate organization requiring one person to do the work of 5 people. Insufficient training and resources to get questions answered to do your job correctly and efficiently. You will work 10-12 hours a day and weekends and will still never catch up on your work.
