Pros

I started with Progressive in 2015. I love the people and the work culture. However, the pay is not as competitive as other insurance companies, The gain share has been extremely low in comparison to other years, yet we have not gotten a fair market salary increase. From 2015-2018 my bonuses were between $7-8K now we are as low as $2K. I have been with the company for 7 years and it's hard to promote into complex and/or desirables roles unless you get a manager referral, get hand pick, or grandfather in via family/friend referral. The only option I had is to 'demote or make lateral moves'. After a while, I went as far as I can in the company. I volunteered, I stayed late, I did overtime, I mentored others, I took on special projects, I assisted reps who were falling behind, and scored perfectly on all my end-of-year-performance reviews. I did everything possible to be seen as a valuable employee, yet I could not promote from a level 36 to a 39 or 41. I stayed as long as I did because I love the people I work with and the work culture - it's one of the best. However due to the economy and inflation, I had to apply for other opportunities, and I was baffled that other big-name insurance companies seen the VALUE and greatness in me and were willing to give me a chance with a promoted position and more pay. I got a job offer as a large loss field specialist making $89K (with no experience) in comparison to making only $53K at a company I have been at for 7 years. I hope Progressive consider their long-term employees and treat them right because they lost a lot of loyal employees due to this. I will suggest applying for a level 37-41 role so you can promote faster versus starting from the bottom because they don't consider (med pay, ccu-liability, pip, clru or underwriting as complex experience). It will definitely hold you back regardless how good you are.

Cons

Low pay, low gainshare, and difficulties promoting.

Pros

The only pro was that the job was so terrible it gave me an entire new perspective on how to handle future jobs and let me put up with things more easily knowing how bad it was at Progressive.

Cons

My experience working at Progressive was horrifying. The training seems good, but once you’ve ‘graduated’ you are immediately thrown into a situation where you’ve been set up for failure. The supervisors are not helpful at all and very unsupportive - they take the customers side without even hearing from you what happened. They micromanage your impossible to manage workload of claims and you will not be able to catch up with a 40 hour work week. Expect to work crazy overtime hours without getting paid overtime, get yelled at by the most insanely rude customers, and be prepared to get 5+ claims to be fully worked on each day. Progressive managers always say that your voice matters and that you deserve to be heard, but when you speak up about the issues that arise, nothing is ever done about it and my supervisor always just said that she if she was able to manage that we are expected to do the same, and that wholistic handling is expected on all claims without providing guidance whatsoever. The metric system they have to keep track of how we’re doing unless you’re a robot, another way to set us up for failure. Leaving this job was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself with the amount of stress and energy it’s taken from me. It’s not worth the pay or your time, please do yourself the favor and find something else for your sake.

Pros

Flexible schedule, great coworkers, emphasis on DEI

Cons

Grossly underpaid when compared to similar roles with other companies, opportunities for advancement are hindered by extreme politicking of management, HR is unkind and not helpful, work is not motivating as leaders are not open to new ideas or innovations unless they come up with them themselves
